Empowering Future Architects

The AIA Peconic/Anthony DiSunno Scholarship is an annual resource that supports aspiring architects from the East End of Long Island attain their educational goals. Each year, AIA Peconic awards multiple scholarships ranging from $500 to $3,000 each.  Since the inaugural scholarship awards in 2007, AIA Peconic has issued more than $137,000 in scholarships to deserving students. 

  • The 2025 application is open. Interested candidates are invited to submit applications by April 10, 2025. Application and instructions can be downloaded here. Questions should be addressed to admin@aiapeconic.org.

  • Graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students currently accepted by or enrolled in an accredited school of architecture are eligible. Applicants must have graduated from an east end high school in the Township of Riverhead, Southold, Shelter Island, East Hampton or Southampton. Students may apply each year for the duration of their undergraduate program. 

  • In a single PDF, applicants must provide  each of the following items.  If not compiled into one PDF, please ensure all file names include the applicant’s last name. If not complete, the application will not be considered.

    • Scholarship Application Form

    • Cover Letter (no more 300 words)

    • Portfolio: five to ten drawings or photos of current work
      Please include a brief description and/or goal of each project submitted

    • Resume/Curriculum Vitae

    • Two Letters of Recommendation


    A jury of AIA Peconic Architect Members reviews all entries and awards scholarships based on the professional presentation of materials received and the merit of the portfolio. 

    The AIA Peconic / Anthony DiSunno Scholarship Program is possible thanks to grant support from the American Institute of Architects, our annual Golf & Dinner Fundraiser, and the support of many donors and sponsors, including Rockman Millwork & Doors.

  • In 2024, five recent graduates of East End high schools were selected as recipients of the prestigious scholarship.  They include Westhampton Beach High School graduate Emily Galovic who attends Syracuse University School of Architecture, as well as two East Hampton graduates: Asha Hokanson (Tulane University) and Hannah Hartsough (Northeastern University).  Finally, two Riverhead High School graduates, Daniel Arias and Giovana Forlenza, who both attend New York Institute of Technology.
