This introductory course focuses on the significance of stable and reliable power. The course aims to educate architects on the vital role of power quality in enhancing the homeowner’s experience, elevating safety standards, and supporting the seamless integration of technology in the home.

Analyze various methods of protecting the electrical infrastructure of the home

Residential Design with Motorized Shading Solutions - 1 LU
In this course you’ll learn about the importance of residential shading. You’ll also gain a better understanding of the differences between motorized and manual shading, the importance of fabric characteristics and how it plays into the performance of shading fabric, and discover how automated shading systems maximize daylighting.
After this lecture you will:
Be familiar with the benefits of using motorized shades,
Be able to explain the conducive design to motorized shades including types of shades and fabric basics,
Be able to convey the best ways to conceal shades,
Be able to define how to integrate lighting and shading including maximized daylight and energy efficiency.
Outdoor Technology: Extending the Living Space - 1 LU
Today’s modern home has various forms of integrated technology, not only inside, but outside as well, and this market has grown beyond just simple audio and video options. One thing trade partners and clients need to know is that the list of possible technologies that can be installed and controlled is long! The outdoor space is one of the fastest growing markets. This course will provide design and build partners with a familiarity with outdoor technology options and how the environment (both weather, location, and terrain) influences outdoor technology choices. Additionally, participants will discuss the infrastructure, and equipment needs and options to ensure a successful project!
