Golf and Dinner Event September 13

1793 Northville Turnpike, Riverhead www.longislandnationalgc.com

"Long Island National takes its place in a setting of golfing wonders on the Eastern end of Long Island. It is a traditional heartland golf course, buffered by sea breezes fresh off the North Fork, and playing across the open savannah landscape," Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

AIA Peconic Golf and Dinner Event to benefit Scholarship and Education Fund

AIA Peconic, is hosting their annual Golf and Dinner Event on Tuesday September 13th at the Long Island National Golf Club. Proceeds will benefit the AIA Peconic Scholarship and Education Fund.

AIA Peconic is a Chapter of The American Institute of Architects, the professional association for architects, and consists of over one hundred members in the five East End Towns. Nationally, the AIA has over 80.000 members, and is dedicated to advancing the values of architecture and increasing the living standards of people by improving the built environment.

One of the goals of AIA Peconic is to support the development of aspiring young architects. To this end our Scholarship and Education Committee will award scholarships to deserving applicants who attended area high schools. $7,000.00 in scholarship funds are available for 2010.

Guaranteed to challenge players of all skill levels, this unique par 71, 6,800-yard course offers a spectacular mix of links and traditional design elements.  Dramatic rolling hills covered by tall fescue grasses are complimented by a lush wooded area.  More than 55 strategically placed sand bunkers and three large lakes also come into play to test each player’s shot making ability.  Players are challenged to negotiate two of the most exciting features – a shared fairway on the front nine and a double green on the back nine.  This Robert Trent Jones, Jr. masterpiece is unquestionably one his finest efforts to date.

Registration and a barbeque lunch begin at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. The cost for golf and dinner is $225.00, which includes golf cart, lunch, open bar and hors d'oevres, dinner and award prizes. What an Architect Can Do for You

Whether you’re dreaming of a new home or planning a complex commercial development, the key to ensuring that your vision becomes reality is the same: Involve an architect early.

Architecture involves much more than buildings. Architects take your vision and give it form, explore its possibilities, raise it to new levels, and then integrate it into your building site and the community at large. They bring not only design, but solutions. For example, buildings currently account for over 40 percent of energy consumption in the U.S. Architects, using sustainable design practices, can help negate these effects. In fact, AIA members, through their Institute, have committed to making all new and renovated buildings carbon neutral by 2030. So tap the knowledge, efficiency, environmental awareness, and brilliant design that architects bring to any project. The sooner you bring an architect on board, the more fully your vision can be realized - even exceeding your own expectations.

To discover how an architect can further enrich the type of project you have in mind, proceed with your search by clicking on #2 MEMBER LIST on the above menu for an AIA Peconic member.
